Where else are people talking?

When you first join the RDUMesh, you're faced with a single channel: Public.

The Public channel is like the public square. Anyone and everyone who's on the mesh starts there by default. If you're a gamer, you might consider it the spawn point of the mesh.

But is there more?

Yes. And... not yet.

Yes.

Here are a few channels to explore on the RDUMesh that already exist right now:

  • #test - This is the best place to test to see if the mesh is working. There are usually helpful people listening who will respond (but maybe not right away) to let you know they caught your test message. This helps a lot to keep Public free of "can anyone hear me?" type posts.
  • #rdumesh to talk about the mesh itself!
  • #2600 - Hacker culture lives here.
  • #apex
  • #bullcity and #durham - Which one will win? Or maybe there's a place for both? Tell us what you think.
  • #cary
  • #emergency - This is a good one to have and a good one to listen to. But please don't test there, don't post anything unless there's a real emergency and your primary means of communication aren't working.
  • #hamradio is a great one to have if you're a licensed radio amateur (or ham-curious). This convention is being followed by meshes in other cities, as well. So being a member of it here, your mesh radio will still accept #hamradio chat in other areas when you travel with your MeshCore Companion device.

Anybody can create new channels on the mesh.

Anyone.

If you're meeting people on the mesh and you share a common interest, consider creating a lasting place to gather with your new friends by starting a new hashtag channel. And let us know about it on Discord so we can add it to the list!
